JESSENIA VELEZ MATIAS
Jessenia's educational background includes a bachelor’s in social work from the University of Puerto Rico and a master’s in social work from Case Western Reserve University.
She understands how important it is to find the right match for therapy and she respects that you know your life better than anyone. Jessenia believes in a collaborative relationship in which you can freely express yourself, leading to new ways of thinking for a healthier mind and body. She can help you gain insight and experience transformation in your life to have more presence and awareness.
Therapy allows you to explore and address the issues you face in a manner that promotes deep healing and a possible resolution, you decide how this looks like. Together, you and Jessenia will work on strategies that allow you to address the root causes of your difficulties and build meaningful relationships with yourself and then with the other connections in your life. Her goal in working together through therapy is to help you develop skills that will relieve suffering and lead you to experience growth. She uses different modalities such as EMDR, Trauma Focus Therapy, Client Centered, Family System, CBT. She works with individuals with trauma due to abuse or neglect, teens in foster care or adults who were in foster care, new couples, dating, family conflict, depression, anxiety, codependency, grief, relationship issues, life transitions and self-esteem.
Jessenia is available for sessions in English and Spanish!
