JIM SHERFEY
Clinician - LPC
Jim is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with extensive experience in both education and
mental health. Before entering the mental health counseling profession, he spent over 30 years as
a teacher and high school counselor, later transitioning into mental health to continue his passion
for supporting people through life’s challenges.
He works with adults 18 and older and has provided therapy in community mental health, long-
term care, and private practice settings, supporting clients facing depression, anxiety, trauma,
grief, and other concerns. Jim is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
(EMDR) and has significant experience using EMDR with clients who have trauma histories and
PTSD. He has seen firsthand how EMDR can reduce distress, shift long-held negative beliefs,
and help clients move forward with greater resilience.
Jim views counseling as a collaborative process built on trust, empathy, and respect. His
counseling style is client-centered, and he tailors his approach to each individual’s needs. Along
with EMDR, he draws from Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),
Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness practices. Above all, Jim
is committed to meeting clients wherever they are on their personal journey.
