ALEXIS JOHNSTON

Clinician- LISW

“What we don’t need in the midst of struggle is shame for being human” -Brene Brown

Alexis believes that being human is perfectly imperfect. Life can be filled with a myriad of emotions. Sometimes these emotions can make you feel on top of the world and other times it can be an overwhelming and isolating experience. That is why Alexis uses a strengths focused approach to create a safe non-judgmental environment for you to be heard, seen, and respected. Alexis works to meet you where you are and walk through your journey with you, as teammates. Her goal in therapy is to work with you to strengthen your relationship with your inner self, strengthen your relationship with others, learn healthy ways to process your emotions and find the growth you are looking for.

Alexis is a Licensed Social Worker who completed her Bachelor of Science in Social Work with an emphasis on women’s studies at Bowling Green State University. Alexis went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in Social Work with a focus on mental health and substance abuse from The Ohio State University. Alexis has experience working with individuals and couples in a variety of settings including community mental health agencies and substance abuse treatment centers. Alexis has worked with adults seeking help to heal relationships, build self-esteem, cope with difficult life transitions, and learn tools to manage symptoms of anxiety and grief. Alexis’ clinical approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), and emotion focused therapy (EFT).
